THE DISAPPEARANCE OF OSCAR LILJA, 2019

The Disappearance of Oscar Lilja  at Malmö City Theatre with video design by Bombina Bombast.

The Disappearance of Oscar Lilja is a re-interpretation of the horror romantic vampire story with roots in classics such as Dracula and Carmilla, written by Sara Bergmark Elfgren for Malmö City Theatre. Like her previous writings, this also moves between myth, magic, and everyday realism.

Fall of 1994. Four young people with artistic dreams are drawn into the circle around the enigmatic and renowned poet Oscar Lilja. But the price for being Oscar's apprentice is high, deadly high. Friendship and love are put to the test, the boundary between insanity and reality is blurred. Many years later, the four try to understand what really happened to them. Who was Oscar Lilja? And can a meeting with a person poison a whole life?

The Disappearance of Oscar Lilja is a play where advanced technology, music and projections create a suggestive and frightening experience. A story about dreams, nightmares, art and obsession.
